We like this "presentation" family project because it encourages public speaking, it involves the family, and it enriches our classroom lessons by adding another dimension to the student learning (they make real life connections).
This is a close up at some of the student posters/advertisement. As you can see, they include reasons why that food is good for you. This gave us practice with the new CCSS writing requirement on "opinion."
We discussed projecting your voice, to make yourself heard. We discussed posture, to let people know you are a presenter.
These are life skills, really.
*Project you voice, what you have to say is important.
*Stand up straight and let people know you matter.
* The day will come when you will make a difference, let’s start getting ready now!
(these are life skills that are important to us, as teachers)
