Halloween is a day of fun all day long. But we don't sacrifice our sanity for some good 'ol learning. No, instead devise a plan to divide and conquer. That's right! We first identify the CCSS we want to focus on then create an activity to teach it. Simple as that...
This Halloween Rotation gives us the opportunity to mix all of our 4 kindergarten classes. We start off by dispersing our own group of 24 student into the 4 classrooms. For example, we send a group of 6 to each of the classroom (including mine). We are ready to begin the rotation once we all have a group of 24 students from all classrooms. As a management tool, we then assign the "assembled group" a color by giving them a roving necklace of a particular color. For example, my first group was the orange group. Mrs. Barragan's first group was purple. Mrs. Mendoza's first group was red. And Mrs. Truex's first group was green. This way the groups are easier to keep together as they rotate through the different classrooms. The schedule above ensures that we all conclude our session in a timely manner. Easy peasy!
