Woot woot!!! We are excited to announce that Kinder League has just been accepted to present at the 33rd Annual PK1 Conference in Santa Clara early next year! This is a huge honor for us. We love what we get to do in our own classrooms and we love even more to be able to share it with some fab teachers...
It's going to be a busy Winter Break... We know we love it!!!
We are two weeks into our summer vacation, and not much blogging has been going on. But we have GOOD excuses: 1.) we are busy creating new products that you have asked for, stay tuned for announcements, 2.) we are busy getting ready for Vegas baby!!!!!
Teachers from all over the country will come together in July for Educators Week in Las Vegas. And we couldn't be more excited to meet (and perhaps party with) some of our mentors. Yes, we are teacher nerds and we embrace it. Ha ha!!! Here is a picture of a brochure we are working on for the special event. Maybe we'll see you there...
We were up to our eye brows in scrapbooks earlier this month! O, the chaos. Yes! We, Kinder League teachers, make an individual scrapbook for each of our students. We have been doing this for over 10 years! It all started when a friend shared what her daughter's teacher did at their "fancy" school. Maybe our students don't attend a fancy school, but we knew that they too deserved this special gift. And 10 years later,...we haven't looked back yet!
We create one scrapbook page each month. Most pages include a photograph, but in recent years we have had to cut back because of cost. As you can see, its not just about the photos though. Featuring the student's original art or writing is just as special.
We present our kindergarten scrapbooks to the families on the day of our Kindergarten Celebration (this just happened for us last week). After student performances, the families are invited back to our classrooms where they can look over their books with their child and enjoy cupcakes. It's truly a special day!
Academic rigor is alive and well in our mandated CCSS. And that's fine. What makes the kindergarten classroom unique is that in all happens in a well balanced classroom that thrives in preserving that magic that makes this such a special age. Let's preserve the memories!
Here We Come to Save the Day!
We are three energetic kindergarten teachers who want to share our kinder experience with you!
