One memory that I have from MY kindergarten classroom with Mrs. McKenzie is all the painting that we did. I remember a back wall full of painting easels and the excitement I felt about adding color to the blank newsprint paper. This is something that I have always tried to replicate in my OWN classroom! I've tried easels outdoors, I've tried easel on tables, and this year I have 2 standing easels by the sink (this is key!).
I think the variation in complexity is the argument for making painting a must in early ed classrooms. One clearly needs the fine motor practice. The other can benefit from the extra practice in mastering his artistic skills. I love it!
Yeah! We survived another first day of school! And we even managed to take the students' First Day Of Kindergarten pictures. These photos will be saved and used as the first page of the students' scrap books (which go home at the end of the school year). The banner was created using Ellison Edu letter die cuts. Cessy used school-themed scrapbook paper.
Don't you just LOVE Cessy's jumbo "K" letter? Here's a DIY project for you:

Sooooo,.... we decided to make this Math Bundle available on TPT!
It used to be that you could only get this great deal as a Conference Special. It holds 5 of our most popular math resources. These are the types of activities that we use for homework when we need a little more "meat" with the curriculum or use during Math Workshop.
Kinder League was honored to be invited to ELLISON's Blogger's Bash Beach Party! We had a great time. And the demo session was amazing. Who knew you could make SO many wonderful things with those die-cuts?! Here are just a few of the cool things we learned about:
A highlight of the day of course was meeting some of the top teacher bloggers from Southern California!!! Such talent! And super sweet! These educators are transforming education...
Each is designed to help you take your sight word instruction to another level. Sight Word Puzzles are intended for the TK age group. It allows the younger students to explore with letter formation and letter order without the rigor. Rainbow Words Extra has the puzzles, along with sight word fluency practice and sight word interaction journal practice. These are fun packs! Now available on Teachers Pay Teachers.
iYes, we have already started some long-term planning. Our school district, Los Angeles Unified School District, adopted a new math curriculum. It's MY MATH. The three of us went to the training over summer break and we look forward to implementing it in our classrooms. As you may know, the three of us move to the beat of a different drum,...and we revised the pacing. This is mostly done because we feel certain concepts, are grasped best when we build up to them. This mostly relates to number concepts. Anyhow, feel free to grab yourself a copy of our My Math pacing plan.
Here we come to save the day! Finally the product to keep your classroom running when you are not there. It's brilliant! Cessy put this beauty together out of personal need. Our office manager would ask us to fill out new "sub folder" information each year. This was useful, but annoying. These templates are editable and will save us a lot of time. Hooray!!!
Here We Come to Save the Day!
We are three energetic kindergarten teachers who want to share our kinder experience with you!
