| We posted some samples of our Turkey Family Project from past years on IG and FB last week and many of you had questions and wanted to know more. So here you go! I know that ideally, you would have wanted this information sooner. Sorry! But some of you might want to try out the project in the classroom in the coming days. The book Piggie Pie is a great companion to the lesson. In that story the pigs run around looking for a disguise to avoid being turned into piggie pie! It's a great set up for this assignment! |  |
We give out the assignment sheet and turkey template (see photo above) 2 weeks before it's due. My friend and mentor Raelene turned me on to this project many years ago. It's from The Mailbox Magazine and we STILL use the original template and parent letter! (Hey,...if ain't broke, right?) Part of the assignment is also to get up in front of the class and explain what the costume is and how they put it together. We emphasize "voice" and "projection" for this public speaking component. These little ones blow us away every year. They are amazing! We'll post some pictures of this year's projects once they come in. Our due date in Nov. 12.
